The largest Memorial Day parade in the country is the Little Neck-Douglaston Parade. It is free and open to the public, includes a military band, and this year will feature the U.S. Air Force. It begins at 2 p.m. The starting location is to be determined. Additionally, there is a parade in Brooklyn, which is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year. It begins at 11 a.m. on Memorial Day and runs from Third Ave. to 78th St and ends at Fort Hamilton.
Museums, such as the American Museum of Natural History and the Museum of Modern Art are great places to go to get out of the warm weather and experience how much culture the city has to offer. Don’t forget to check out the Museum of the City of New York. Located near Central Park, it provides a look at the people and culture who have shaped the history of the city.

At the Charlotte Motor Speedway, there will be a pre-race Memorial Day show in honor of our military. Also, the Patriot Military Family Foundation will host a 5K for all you runners out there. If you are not into running, this race is created for you walkers as well. Participants are asked, if they are willing, to “go the extra mile” by walking or running one extra mile in honor of the military men and women.
